Planning a wedding on a budget is tough, especially with all the fabulous & creative projects out there and all over the internet.
In 23 days my daughter will marry her best friend. Their theme: Rustic or Country Princess.
We have been planning it together across state lines, by phone, text and email.
First, the plan for wedding favors was going to be S’mores, after realizing the cost, and the concern that most guests would not take the gift, we nixed that idea.
On to the next idea, matchboxes, but this idea seemed ‘overdone.’
About this point, I was frustrated because what I wanted to make was out of my budget, and what was within my budget, seemed too cheesy.
What. To. Do? Call Mom
Mom gave me some great ideas, tulip bulbs, or jelly belly beans in dark blue, coral and teal place in matchboxes (except the closest jelly belly place for these, Fairfield, Ca) … and I thought, what about.
Seed packets. Perfect.
Here’s what you need:
Kraft paper bags: I used 2.5 x 4in x / 6.3 cm x 10.1 cm
Ribbon: I chose, Navy, Coral and Teal (J’s colors)
Label paper (large full sheet)
I created a graphic design in photoshop, starting with a 2 x 3 template.
I took the design and copied enough to fill an 8 x 10″ area.
I then took the files via flash drive to Office depot and had the front and back design printed on full sheet label paper. Done.
- place the stickers on the front and the back
- fill the bags with 1 tsp of Wildflower seeds
- fold the top of the bag, punch two holes about 1/2” apart
- thread with ribbon and either tie a bow or knot (i used 3 different ribbon colors- to match my daughter’s colors)
- tape the bags with clear scotch tape.
The packets can be displayed in a flower pot or basket.
The entire cost for this DIY wedding favor: $58.
